Funeral Services for Elmer Whitt Held Today
Elmer Earl Whitt 2 died of a heart ailment at 5 15 p.m. Saturday at his home near Herndon. Funeral services were to be held today at New Spruce Grove Church on Barkers Ridge, with burial in Spruce Grove Cemetery, Bashi. He was a timberman and sawmill worker, survived by his wife Ethel two sons Vernie Clifford and five daughters Violet Monk Mary Hunter Gledys Golda Joyce and others. He also leaves four brothers Charlie John Roosevelt and Allen and two sisters Rosie Mills and Effie Green. Body moved to the Whill residence after removal from Robertson and Foglesong Funeral Home.

Man Jailed After Wreck In West Mullens
Ralph Glenn Minton, 27, of Caloric, was jailed after a Sunday wreck when his pick up collided with a car near Mullens High School. Police found six half gallon jars of moonshine in his truck and noted he was on probation from a federal court. Damages to Bill Wilcox’s car were listed at $100.

Miller Falls From Roof Injuring Store Owner
Everett Miller, 19, fell from the roof of his Brenton store while repairing a television antenna. He was taken by ambulance to Stevens Clinic in Welch for bruises a broken arm and pelvic injuries. Police in Mount Hope investigated break ins at two service stations where sof t drink machines were damaged but no money appeared stolen. Sixteen counties have supplied West Virginia with its 35 governors.
