Ellen Bee Sizemore, daughter of Mr and Mrs Kelly Sizemore of Soulsville, married Stephen Henry Hogg son of Mrs S T Hogg of Mullens Hill in a candlelit First Methodist Church ceremony. The couple, now residing in Mullens, was joined by family and friends with music by Mrs Woodrow Houck and vocal performances by Marion Manning. Ellen is a Concord College graduate and teacher. Stephen is a United States Steel chemist and Concord College alumnus.

Bud Miner Milam Fowler Killed in Mine Accident
Milam Fowler a 35 year old Bud miner was run over and killed by the supply motor he operated at the Tralee Mine around midnight. A witness said the cable blew up and Fowler in trying to jump to safety fell before the machine. Mortuary attendants noted fatal injuries to the face head and chest. Survivors include his wife and one child. The body lies at Bailey Funeral Home Matoaka with funeral arrangements incomplete.

Jess Mc Guire of Springdale was fined $100 and jailed 190 days for driving while drunk after a collision injuring Meadow Bridge High School teacher Mrs. Lewis Groves. Mullens Couple Celebrates 47th Wedding Anniversary
Mullens Mr. and Mrs. G N Kidd celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary this Sunday. Married December 20, 1905, they shared a large family gathering with seven of ten children and 917 grandchildren. Kidd, a retired Virginian Railway conductor, moved to Mullens in 1910 and now helps run Kidd's Grill. They plan a second honeymoon in Avon Park, Florida, spending the winter there.
