Rev Hansel Cook preached that only two powers truly exist, God and Satan, at Clearfork Valley Baptist Church in Crouchland. The church, organized Feb 25 1940 with 27 charter members on E H Crouch farm, has about 36 members now and was damaged by fire in December 1956 undergoing repairs.

Fayette County Board Limits Spending to Core Curriculum
Fayetteville West Virginia. Fayette County Board of Education approved a staff recommendation to direct funds toward basic curriculum and limit extra curricular spending. Two Released On Bond Face Grand Jury Action
PAYETTEVILLE RNS Two men held to grand jury on grand larceny charges linked to copper wire thefts in a hearing before Magistrate Virgil Lyons. George Asbury, 23, Oak Hill, and Charles L. Brown, 37, Layland, charged with theft of 1362 pounds of copper feeder line from Branch Fuel Company Lawton valued at 217.20. Asbury arrested Saturday and Brown Sunday. Asbury also charged with another copper wire theft from same company valued at 160.20. Bonds set at 1000 for Asbury and 500 for Brown. Investigating deputies were L W Fox Pete Withrow Fred O Boyle Buddy Crouch and Earl Dempsey.
