Oceana High School students from Oceana Nigh School joined Oak Hill residents on WOAY-TV's Juke Box Dance Party. The school majorette corps performed an Indian war dance with Johnnie Duty Karen England Connie Burkett Eulenna Tyree Helen Daniels and Sue Shields. Music featured Robert Rider tom tom drummer and Pat Wallace trumpeter. Oceana students also joined the quiz segment with Donna Cook Margaret Berta and Sebert Stewart.

Government Day Draws Students

Clear Fork High School plans to send one boy and one girl from the junior class to the seventh annual Know Your State Government Day in Charleston on March 3. The event is sponsored by the National Education Association. Representatives will be chosen through two ballots and by character and leadership.

Deadline set for the annual high school essay contest in Wyoming County sponsored by the Ocean a and Pineville Woman's Clubs with the Mat lens Civic Club. Mrs R H Breeden of Pineville chairs. Topic Today's Youth Tomorrow's Leaders. Each school may submit four essays 800 to 1000 words. First prize a $95 savings bond. Second and third prizes of $10 and $3 respectively.

Norma Barnett Wins Voice of Democracy Contest at Oceana

Norma Barnett, a junior at Oceana High School, won the Voice of Democracy script writing contest after nine finalists. Elba Dillenwater was runner up. judges included Laura Hinchman Ted Wolfe and the Rev Kenneth Maze. Barnett’s script advances to the state finals at WHIS TV Bluefield with other contestants noted.

Christmas Concert by Beckley Bands at WWHS Auditorium

Beckley Woodrow Wilson High School Flying Eagle Band joins Beckley Junior High Band for the annual Christmas Concert at 8 p.m. in the WWHS auditorium. Under Glenn Sallack, performances include 62 beginner, 85 junior high, and 131 high school players with selections ranging from Woodland Moods to The Buglers Holiday and Santa's Toy Shop.
