Fayette County September Court Term Opens for Felony Dockets

Fayetteville reports the September circuit court term will hear numerous criminal cases. Prosecuting Attorney Carl B. Vickers listed defendants awaiting trial on September 27 and 28 including Lawson, Hickson, Freshour’s automobile theft, Parker murder, drunk driving, various felonious assaults, pistol offenses, trespass, and other property crimes. The list names dozens of defendants and specific charges across multiple days, reflecting a broad docket before juries.

Third Generation Tyree Entrants Funeral Direction

Joseph Preston Tyree, son of Mr and Mrs A J Tyree and grandson of Mr and Mrs Joseph P Tyree, becomes the third generation to join Tyree Funeral Homes in Mt Hope. He graduated Cincinnati College of Embalming on August 27 1948 and served as Tyler for Sigma Era. He is a 1944 Woolworth Wilson High School graduate who trained two years at Tyree Funeral Home Oak Hill and plans to reside in Oak Hill.

E. B. Wood was re elected moderator at the Fayette Waplist Association annual session held at Calvary Baptist Church. About 200 attendees from two churches heard reports showing 272 total additions 259 baptisms and 17 261 94 spent for benevolent causes. Quincy Taylor Fined For Slot Machines

Payetteville report says Quincy Taylor 31 of Long Branch was fined 100 dollars for keeping land exhibiting slot machines. State Police Sgt. W R Callaghan said Taylor owned a pool room and beer garden and pleaded guilty before Magistrate Virgil Lyons after a raid Saturday. Three slot machines were seized.

Mullens Man Suffers From Cleaning Fluid Burn

Andrew Smith a Mullens roomer at the Tolliver Hotel attempted to use cleaning fluid to remove paint from his arms and shoulders. He was treated by Dr W W Wells for superficial burns to both arms and the neck. Bandages and tape were required to cover the burned areas.
