Homecoming at Cirtsville Methodist and Maple Fork Baptist Churches

Over 300 attendees from Cirtsville and surrounding towns joined a combined homecoming at the Cirtsville Methodist Church on Sunday. The event included 11 am worship led by Rev. E. A. Kidd and a noon luncheon on the old Uncle Tomp farm lawn where Tyree family members held a reunion. Henry Vass, aged 86, recalled 55 years of church membership, joking about 11 children raised there, with other near 80-year-olds Amos Stover and C. P. Maynor also present.

Moose to Hear Okey Patteson at Sixth District Meeting

Okey L. Patteson the Democratic candidate for governor will address the Loyal Order of Moose sixth district meeting at the Moose Home Friday. The program starts at 7 pm with a banquet and a business session followed by dancing to music by Roy Lee and his Swingsters. Attendees are expected from Layland Whitesville Hinton Beckley Montgomery and Oak Hill.

Oak Hill Man Injured Riding Scooter in Road Crash

Oak Hill James H Bradley 58 suffered a severe laceration of the lower abdomen when his motor scooter crashed into a automobile on Satem Road around 4 30 p m yesterday. Police say the bike skidded on hot pavement after meeting a car driven by Merle Hewitt on a sharp curve causing about 100 damage. Bradley is reported in good condition by hospital attendants.

Miller Halstead Families Reunite at Lilly Grounds

Oak Hill resident Miller elected president of the eighth Miller Halstead reunion at Lilly Runion Grounds. Officers named include vice president Mrs C J Halstead and treasurer C L Nalstead. Speakers included Rev EH Kahle and Miss Cora Mae Miller with performances by Pendleton string band Kellis Stiller and Iona Miller.

Funeral for Mrs. De liah Evison Held at Beaver Church

Funeral services for 70 year old Mrs. De liah Frances Evison were set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Beaver Community Church with Rev. E W Powers officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. She died at her daughter’s home in Beaver at 3 20 p m after a nine month illness. She was born September 18 1877 in Summers County and lived in Beaver most of her life. She was a Primitive Baptist member. Surviving are three sons E W Ellison R W Ellison and James Filison of Beaver five daughters Myrtle Harvey Marie Mattek Anna Mae Willy Faye Mabrey and Cora Mays two brothers Garfield Wick Jack and Aland Street Lilly and three sisters C C Farley C C Smith and Decia Lilly 7B grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Pension plan outline to be given by Vitler in Beckley

Vitler to present UMW pension plan details at a Beckley mass meeting in the Memorial building Sunday at 10 am.
