A. F. Whitney president of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen announced that five railway brotherhoods authorized a strike set for September 6 at 6 a.m. to press for a general 20 percent wage increase. About 250 000 workers in the Trainmen Locomotive Engineers Enginemen Firemen Switchmen and Conductors unions would begin walking off as zones stagger the action through September 9 with mediation or arbitration possible to delay action. Whitney said Chicago committees reached agreement and all representatives concurred.

Rush Cazort Dies at 56 in Mullens West Virginia
Rush Cazort 56, woods superintendent for W. M. Ritter Lumber, died at 6 a m in a Mullens hospital after suffering from high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis. A native of Oceana, he worked in Raleigh Boone Wyoming and McDowell counties and was long affiliated with Bitter Lumber. Funeral services await relatives. He is survived by his brother Wade a merchant in Oceana and two sisters Mrs Burke Lamb of Clear Fork and Mrs Able Milam of Raleigh County. His mother died in a house fire and his father was killed in an automobile wreck two years ago. He was a bachelor and active in Democratic circles.

Woman Held in Murder Probe
Wheeling police detained four young women as they sought underworld clues in the slaying of Mike Russell a Wheeling gambler and lottery operator. Chief Albert C Megale said the woman was in federal custody and the police would not identify her or her link to the case. Prosecutor S C Lee Spillers said the shooting stemmed from Russell’s rackets connections and questioned more than 40 people. Ex-County Official Charged With Drunk Driving After Crash
W. C. Romine former county road supervisor of Cittsville was arrested by city police yesterday and charged with driving while drunk. He posted a $50 cash bond for a Saturday police court appearance after a collision on South Kanawha Street with a Pinecrest sanitarium truck. Patrolman Stover said witnesses saw Romine driving on the wrong side and arguing with the truck driver. no serious injuries or heavy damage were reported. Theodore England, a local man, was also jailed for reckless driving after driving across Main and Heber streets and onto a sidewalk. he posted a $200 property bond for a Friday hearing.

Landslide closes Dunedin Coal mine path
Rain in Raleigh county caused a slate and landslide at the Dunedin Coal company mine between Terry and Mece Creery today. Carpenter B D West sued Cirtsville sawmill operator Duff Stover for 67.31 back wages claiming a verbal contract at 74 2 cents an hour, while Stover offered 50 cents. The case was the term's first jury trial. Several orders were issued and other cases settled or dismissed. West testified he helped build a house and was not paid in full.
