Whitesville Indiana area report notes Boone County Grand Jury convenes at 9 30 a m Monday in Madison with no murder cases on the docket. The list includes many named jurors across Sherman Washington Scott and Crook districts and marks the first appearance of women on the grand jury. County superintendent A L Walker issued notice and invites teachers from one to five room schools to attend consulting and staff sessions on reading arithmetic and spelling.

Quigley Services Scheduled Friday in Oak Hill
Funeral services for John Quigley 79 will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St Andrews Episcopal Church Oak Hill with burial at High Lawn Memorial Park. He died Wednesday at his home after a heart condition after two years illness. He was a retired mine superintendent and member of St Andrews Church McDonald Masonic Lodge Mount Hope. Survivors include wife Mary Saret C Quigley one brother Joseph Quigley and one son W B Quigley graveside rites by Mount Hope Masonic Lodge. Bed remains at Thomas Funeral Home Oak Hills.

Charles Ritchie Jr of Mullens was named by State Superintendent R V Rohrbough to lead the Southern West Virginia area for the State Department of Education. The four area plan prioritizes supervising instructional programs in elementary and secondary schools. Ritchie leaves Herndon High after 14 years as principal. Ace B. Stewart will replace him. Ritchie has 24 years as teacher-principal in Wyoming County and holds degrees from Concord College and WVU. He and his wife Dorothy Pack live in Mullens with daughter Dollie Sue upcoming sophomore at Mullens High.

Two juveniles face breaking and entering charges for stealing two .27 caliber rifles, 864 pennies, and a hunting knife from Mary L. Stinnett's Hill Top home.
