State Medical Group To Aid in Selecting West Virginia Doctors

The State Medical Association will assist the Army in choosing five West Virginia Army Reserve medical officers for possible return to active duty by Oct. 6. The five doctors will be among 141 called to active service in the Second Army's seven-state area. An association council will meet in Charleston to study the issue.

Five Men Face Grand Jury Action

Five men, including Tom English Lawrence Johnson and George Sandridge, are held on 500 bond after waiving to grand jury action in Fayette County hearings before Magistrate C R Bess for unlawfully operating a game of chance. George Brown and Lonnie Carter are held on charges of carrying numbers slips for a game of chance or lottery. Hearings occurred August 14 in Boomer.

High School Schedule Set for Opening Days

Mt Hope High School to open for class adjustment on Wednesday August 30 with principal’s office hours 9 am to 3 pm for new students or schedule changes. Bus routes remain similar to 1949 50. commercial run to Bradey and Oswald mornings with afternoon times to be announced. New staff include Raymond Taylor James Lively and Lines Ferguson.

Kingston Men Hurl in Wreck Injuries from Auto Crash

Two Kingston men were treated at Oak Hill Hospital after an automobile accident near Whipple Sunday night. Herbert Simms, 23, was discharged after head injury treatment, and Clarence Crowe, 39, was released with facial cuts and a fractured arm. Details of the crash were unavailable.

Kincaid Funeral Rites Set for Mrs Susie Kincaid

Mrs Susie Kincaid 66 of Long Branch will be buried at Doe Lively Cemetery after funeral services at 2 p m Wednesday in Tyree Funeral Home Oak Hill. The Rev Billy Painter will officiate. She leaves three children three brothers three sisters 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Oceana Resident Injured in Sunday Motorcycle Accident

Oceana Lane Trent 24 is listed in good condition at Stevens Chinie Welch with an injury to his left leg from a motorcycle accident Sunday. Numerous local residents, including Mr. and Mrs. Bo Hatcher and the Shipman family, visited Flat Top and Pineville. Paul Weaver returned to Akron for work while spending the weekend with family in Pineville.

Mobile Dental Unit Opens in Lookout

Fayetteville health official Dr. Thomas Sims announced the Lookout mobile dental unit opens Wednesday. Sponsored by Lookout Farm Women's Club and supervised by West Virginia State Department of Health Bureau of Dental Hygiene, it serves preschool through sixth grade children on a demonstration basis, offering fluoride treatment alongside other care. Dr. N. H. Baker organized the unit to stay in Fayette County about two months, inviting county residents to learn about its work.

Beckley BPW leaders plus Oak Hill delegates attended the fall meeting in Hinton for District 6, with Mullens and Fairmont members. Discussion covered club papers, September 10 material deadline, state paper coverage, and finance.
