Rites Set Thursday For Drowning Victim Joe Jarrell
Funeral services for 22 year old Joe Jarrell of Comfort will be held Thursday at 1 30 p m in Comfort Presbyterian Church with burial in Amick Cemetery Joe who drowned in New River about a mile below Biston was recovered by Summers County Rescue Squad after a 17 hour 15 minute search His survivors include his parents two sisters Magdalene Jarrell and Mrs Shelby Lee Walker and two brothers James and Edward Jr He was born July 16 1928 at Comfort Boone County and was a student athlete at WV Tech.

Mullens Council Passes Order for Laying Levy
Mullens City estimates a $40,981 total receipts for the year while current expenses are set at $56,831.60. The levy approved at last night's meeting raises $1,068 more than last year to balance the budget, with $12,921 in the bank and $9,081 in the city treasury projected.
