A satirical piece imagines a three room motel for politicians with distinct wings and flamboyant touches. It envisions a Louis XIV Birch room in the right wing, a pink room in the left wing, and a rear entrance suite for back door spenders, plus helium balloons for trial balloons and smoke control for candidate selection. It also mentions lobbyists built in, a night deposit for contributions, and a trough dining room with a pool carrying a floating horse stable.

Kennedy Backed Tax Cut If Congress Votes Democratic
President Kennedy urged a tax reduction only if a Democratic-controlled Congress is elected in November. House Ways and Means Chairman Wilbur Mills supported deferring the tax cut until next year while urging efficiency to save billions by closing nonessential federal installations and services. He proposed raising postal rates to end a 600 million deficit and closing tax loopholes to save 1 billion annually, plus 1 billion more by curbing farm surpluses. The president said the economy has strengthened but growth, unemployment, and plant expansion remain concerns, arguing for tax cuts to spur growth and long term strength, and urging Congress to pass measures for business incentives, public works, youth employment, unemployment benefits, education aid, and liberalized foreign trade before adjournment.
