At the Green Sulphur Fair near Summers County a riot broke out early Sunday over gambling disputes. About 500 involved, with stones and bottles hurled, windows shattered, and a carnival gate damaged. Police, aided by Walter Kessler and State Troopers, restored order after three hours as groups from Elton and Rainelle clashed with carnival workers.
