American Immigrant Kate Canning Dies at 106 in Ohio
TOLEDO Ohio Miss Kate Canning an Irish immigrant who became an American in 1880 from County Roscommon died yesterday at 106. She worked as a nurse in Lexington Kentucky and retired in 1927. She did not learn she was not an American citizen until applying for an old age pension.
