Four place equipment for the Pineville Community Playground was completed by Pineville residents Tom Cook Walter Gunter and Ralph Nichols. The Wyoming County Trade School students will manufacture all remaining equipment.

Wyoming Court Hearing Murder Trial Testimony

The Wyom ing County Circuit Court heard testimony in the murder case of John Neece Jr. as witnesses described events at Cyclone beer hall and a highway shooting. Jurors also convicted Cleve Armstead of second degree murder in the death of John Claytor at an Allen Junction dance hall.

Youth Revival Set to Open Sunday at Pentecostal Church

Youth revival at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in South Mullens opens Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and continues nightly through May 4. Visiting evangelist Rev. C. W. Blanchard, a 27 year old Canadian born minister, will lead sessions with local quartets including the Clear Fork Sacred Four and the McKinney Quartet plus attendees from Princeton and Montcalm.

Herndon Negro Acquitted By Jury

Pineville Wyoming Circuit Court jurors acquitted Golden Billings of Herndon on charges of assaulting Curtis Johnson, coach at Cone y High School, in a Hern don restaurant. Johnson suffered a broken jaw and hospital treatment. Billings claimed his brother, the late Gilbert Billings, was the assailant. A second jury heard the murder case of Cleve Armstead of Allen Junction, accused in the fatal shooting of John Claytor Jr. at an Allen Junction dance hall.

Influenza Cases Decline In State Counties

State Health Department reports 935 influenza cases for the week ending April 12 with Wyoming County contributing 150 cases and Boone County leading at 453. Total compares to 3,832 cases for the week ending April 5 and four for April 6 in 1946. Commissioner N H Dyers notes the 1946 outbreak was severe earlier in winter.

Junior Women Plan Bake Sale For War Memorial Fund

Junior Woman's Club members prepare cakes cookies pies and other pastries for sale at Piggly Wiggly starting 10 30 a m with Frances Preston in charge Proceeds go to the Wyoming County War Memorial Fund to cover a 36 debt Plans were shared at a club meeting at the Wyoming Hotel. The fourteenth annual West Virginia Department of Junior Club Women convention will be held in Huntington on May 10. The Huntington club hosts and delegates will be appointed at the April 28 meeting with Dorothy Teel.

Mullens Woman Buys Rhodell Taxi Company

Mrs. R. G. Hap py Mankin owner of Wyoming Taxi Co in Mullens says she has purchased Rhodell Taxi Co from Ray Shrewsbury, pending Public Service Commission approval in Charleston. Both parties appeared before the commission to state intentions. If approved she will operate both taxi firms while Shrewsbury retires to lumber business for health reasons.

Magistrate W. R. Haga is recovering at his Elmore home after illness from influenza and pneumonia since March 20. He expects to resume duties within the week.
