Three Glen Rogers youths Granville E Robertson Roy G Powers and Buster A DeHart earned Hall of Fame recognition during U S Navy basic training at Bainbridge Maryland They received engraved identification bracelets and the George Washington Valley Forge Flag The trio enlisted at the local recruiting station in the Post Office Building and left for Bainbridge January 18 Powers and DeHart will go to Naval Air Station Virginia Beach while Robertson returns to Bainbridge They are home on leave after completing basic training.

Band Mothers Raise Funds for Festival Trip at Clear Fork
The Clear Fork High School Band will travel to the Regional Band Festival in Huntington on May 4 with bus transportation provided by the Band Mothers Club. Last Rites Set for Mrs. Gadd
Funeral services for Mrs. Nona A. Gadd of Mullens are scheduled at Mullens Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil Robinson presiding. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Princeton. She died at 3:18 p.m. in a Princeton hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage after a month of illness. Born March 16, 1882 in Flat Top, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Ann Lilly. Her husband Elbert, a Virginian Railway conductor, died in 1938. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Everette Giten Jr.. sisters Mrs. Mary Ellison and Mrs. Dr. Lilly. half brothers Ross Houchins and Dewey Houchins. seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body lay in the chapel earlier today.

Withrow of Whipple two brothers Monroe of Florida and Eugene of Ohio and three sisters Isabelle Pillsenbarger Janice Kadle both of Pennsylvania and Mrs Walter Barth of Ohio. Funeral in Scarbro Methodist Church with burial at Wich Taum Mamavial Dark.

Moonshine Suspects Waive Preliminary Hearing in Bluefield
William Saunders and Beatrice Frazier, residents of Prudence, waived preliminary hearing in the Federal Grand Jury action in Bluefield on June 12 after posting bonds totaling 1300. Saunders, 59, and Frazier, 21, faced charges of possession and sale of moonshine. Saunders bonded at 1000, Frazier freed on 500. Agents reported 15 5 8 gallons moonshine and 7 8 gallon taxpaid whisky at Saunders store, plus a gallon in Saunders car, and seized a truck and two automobiles.
