Oceana Lodges Back Recreation Project Support

Oceana Odd Fellows and Oceana Rebekah Lodge agree to raise funds and labor for the Clearys Fork Valley Recreation Project. They plan dinners pie suppers and other events to cover swing hangers cost about ten dollars and aim to sell 200 past grand association speller tickets by April 27 in Oceana. Labor will also be donated at the park site once weather allows.

Fayette Schools To Hold Monthly Immunization Clinics

Free immunization clinics will be held in Fayette County schools for state required vaccines including smallpox typhoid polio and diphtheria The sessions occur on set Tuesdays at Gauley Bridge Lookout Layland Meadow Bridge Mount Hope Kingston Montgomery and Powellton facilities with times from morning to afternoon as scheduled by the county health department

Anderson College Choir Director Tops National Praise Tour

Dr. Robert A. Nicholson director of the 40 voice Anderson College Choir appears at Jones Avenue Church of God at 7 30 p m to present a one hour sacred concert. He has national recognition from the Church of God association and is on a six state tour with 14 concerts across West Virginia Ohio Virginia Maryland New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Whitsville Boy Scout Troop Forms Two Patrols

Whitesville Troop 3 forms the Whip-o-Wils and Panthers patrols with Jerry Pinson and Leon Mynes as temporary leaders. The unit grows to 18 members under Scoutmaster Cecil Pinson as 22 Cub Scouts plan to organize April 12. An overnight camping trip is set for today with several Scouts listed as attendees.

Rankin elected presbytery youth council treasurer

David Rankin of Kopperston was chosen treasurer of the Bluestone Presbytery Youth Council at the annual spring rally held at First Presbyterian Church in Williamson. Wilson Rites Slated Sunday

Gillard Wilson dies in local hospital and funeral services are set for Sunday at noon at First Baptist Church Glen Rogers with Rev H Dillard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include daughter Julia Geneva Holland of New York City and several siblings.

Ex Fayette Man Dies In Germany

S. Sgt. Claybourne W. Howard Jr of Harlem Heights died of a heart attack at Rhein Main Air Force Base in Germany after 12 years in the Air Force. He had been a Scoutmaster and was a Mason, and member of St John Baptist Church at Garrison. Survived by two sisters Mrs. Clara Taylor of Cleveland and Mrs. Jean Gore of New York City.

Last Rites Held For A D Hager

Andrew Dock Hager 82 former Boone County superintendent of schools died of a heart attack at his Danville home. Funeral at Danville First Baptist Church with burial in Madison Cemetery. Graveside rites by O Dell Lodge 18 Masons he belonged to. Survivors include Hatlie wife N Leon son and two grandchildren. He was a Mason Shriner and church member.

Fayette County Men Sentenced in Circuit Court

Fayette Circuit Court sentenced three men in two car theft related cases and a weapon charge. Lawrence Parrish of Gatewood drew one to ten years for grand larceny via car theft, Richard R Harrah of Kaymoor received a prison term with eight months in county jail before suspension, and Leonard Woodson of Minden pleaded guilty to ma hvelous wounding with potential probation after one year in county jail for a weapon carry misdemeanor. A jury heard the trial of Mike Petroff of Rock Lick for the September 1956 robbery of Danny Miller. In Fayetteville the Presbyterian Church ordained and installed three elders D G Hatcher Amos Burnette and P G Hoye and four deacons Walter Caldwell W L Tully J C Clay and Robert Honaker.

Beta Thetas Install Officers at Oak Hill Meeting

Mrs D Rapp Jr was installed as president of Beta Theta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority at a Tuesday night ceremony after a covered dish dinner at Mrs Mitchel Aide's Sunnyside Drive home Oak Hill. New officers include vice president Mrs Mitchell Aide secretary Mrs Charles Wiseman recording secretary Mrs Avis Partain treasurer and Extension Officer Mrs Fred Russell. Cultural director Mrs John Duda, social director Mrs Hubert Watson, and other members were present. Beta Theta has 40 Exemplar members and will meet again April 23 at Miss Ruth Easton's Minden home. Cyrus Funeral Set Saturday

William Cyrus will be buried after funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Union Baptist Church. The Rev. J. A. Divers will officiate. Burial follows at Mount Hope Cemetery. Cyrus, a retired coal miner, died Monday after an extended illness. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Emma Smith of Brooklyn and Mrs. Bellia Rady of Maiden, with the body to be taken to the home of niece Mrs. Franie Calloway at 5 p.m. today from J. D.
