The Mount Hope Theater opens today after a 1943 Royal Theater fire and 1947 rebuild. Charles Taylor Jr. is serving prison terms for arson connected to the earlier fires at Mount Hope Armory and a railroad station. Edward Pasley becomes manager, succeeding D H Jones as Oak Hill Theater oversight.

Cab Driver Pleads Guilty to Speeding Charge
Mullens taxi driver Jack Norman pleaded guilty to speeding when arraigned before Justice R. M. Stovall. He was arrested by Mullens State Police after Corinne residents complained about rapid driving through the community. Norman paid a $10 fine plus $4.60 in costs.
