Area To Get 15 20 New Industries By Harrison Ash
Fayette and Raleigh counties could gain 15 to 20 new small industries, each employing 100 to 400 people, under plans unveiled by Harrison O. Ash of Cincinnati. The first project includes a boat-arama in Oak Hill using three local plants. an option was taken on the old Mayfair Theater building for $15,000. Investments include New Kanawha Industrial Corp. Ash credited U. S. Sen. Jennings Randolph for backing the effort. Planned plants will be in Beckley Mount Hope and near Oak Hill with initial hires around 100 rising to 200.

Paul Walker Long Sr. a Huntington newspaper radio and TV executive died at 64 after a brief illness. He chaired Huntington Publishing Co. and helped found WSAZ. A Cornell 1918 graduate and former Naval Aviation cadet, he joined the Advertiser in 1919 and rose to editor and then general manager.
