Eight year old patient on ward at Oak Hill Hospital

Billy Ray Elliott eight years old son of Glen Rogers and Margaret Tackett is a patient at Oak Hill Hospital. Mrs Joe Elliott Kilsyth and Mrs Betty Vince preside over a band Boosters Club meeting to choose officers. Plans discussed for an all county clinic and a band trip to Pineville for pneumonia care. condition reported satisfactory.

Ex Track Star Gil Dodds To Speak At Pre Easter Services

Former world record holder for the mile, Gil Dodds, will speak at First Brethren Church Oak Hill during pre Easter services at 7 30 p m on April 18 19 and 21 Sunrise Service Easter Sunday at 6 a m and a 11 30 a m worship. He will also address a citywide youth rally Saturday night under Oak Hill Scarbro Ministerial Association. Dodds received the Sullivan Award for athletic achievement and has coached track at Wheaton College since 1948.

Lane funeral and world record holder dies in Wyoming County

Simeon Lane 66 will be buried in Milam Cemetery after funeral services at Barkers Ridge. Lane, a Barkers Ridge farmer and limberman, died Sunday at Wyoming General Hospital after a three week illness. He set a world record and later broke it, an event witnessed by Rev. Milton Robinson. Lane leaves a wife Rhoda, four sons Oakley Allen Wesker James, three daughters Con way McGraw Haga, a brother Henry and 16 grandchildren. The service details and burial follow.

Taxpayers Asked To Report Autos In Boone County

Boone County assesses over 75 percent of taxpayers as the new vehicle tax law requires listing cars before license issuance. Assessor D W Miller and state tax office aide E G Haslop outlined reporting options by mail in person or via field deputies. About 8 000 vehicles are affected across districts with varying rates and a May 1 deadline.

Beer Licenses Revoked From Pineville and Logan Taverns

Beer Commissioner Roy D. Platt announced immediate revocation of three licenses. James V. Thompson’s The Pub in Pineville cited gaming devices with bond forfeiture, James V. Thompson’s The Dugout in Pineville cited gambling on premises with no bond forfeiture, Jo Ann Smith’s Jo's Place in Logan cited disorderly conduct loitering by intoxicated persons and permitting consumption on premises with bond forfeiture.

Whitesville Red Cross Drive Reaches Partial Total

Whitesville Red Cross workers have collected $233 toward a county goal of 9970. Salamy, county drive chair, says work will continue until the target is met. Nadine Silton is the county executive secretary with one paid staffer.
