Crossbreeding Boosts Tropical European Cattle for Rangeland
Gerald W. Toothman of Pulman argues in his WVU thesis that crossing European with tropical cattle yields range animals better adapted to harsh environments. Brahman crosses show faster weight gain and higher dressed weights than British breeds, though purebreds still outmatch them in conformation. Crossbreeding requires maintaining two breeds and faces market biases for uniformity in feeder cattle.
