CAPE CANAVERAL AP A weather satellite named TIROS I launched on a Thor Able rocket from Cape Canaveral at 6 40 am EST and reached orbit about 400 miles high for a three month mission to photograph Earth cloud cover for meteorological study. NASA officials said the orbit looked promising and the satellite will help map hurricanes and fronts with two television cameras and future infrared detectors.
