In Rochester on Sept 28 N. Davis was nominated by Republicans as candidate for Congress in the Twentieth District. In Boston on Sept 28 Republicans in Massachusetts nominated Ren F Butler for Congress receiving 175 votes with four scattering. the nomination was then made unanimous.
A. Greenleaf former editor of the New Hampshire Gazette died today in Portsmouth after a brief illness. He was 62 years old and resided in the city, leaving a widow and several children. The newspaper notes his long service and influence in local journalism.

Springfield dispatch reports Saturday evening a heavy freight train ascending the hill near Alton released several cars that rolled back and struck a construction train. One person injured, wreck cleared, and trains back to normal running.
