Anthony Finan shoe-maker of Macomb died after being struck and run over by a midnight train at Colchester. An eye witness Rev. J C Reynolds said Finan and a companion attempted to board the moving train, which had paused briefly then reversed. Finan’s leg and arm were mangled. doctors amputated limbs but he died at four this morning. Finan, Irish-born widower with four children, had worked in Bushnell and most recently for David app. He left work noon yesterday to attend the Colchester fair, unaware of his looming death.
Stockholders of the Quincy Pittsfield Carlinville Vandalia Mount Carmel Railroad will meet in Vandalia Illinois on the 26th for electing a Board of Directors. The new line would pass Adams Pike Macoupin Montgomery Fayette Clay and Wabash and join with the New Albany Mt Carmel St Louis Air Line at Mt Carmel. The latter road under construction will connect Evansville with Louisville after Falls of the Ohio.
