Drainage to open large Pike County tract near Perry Springs

A large tract near Perry Springs in the Mc Gee Creek Drainage district, owned by Alton Brothers, is being tiled at an estimated cost of 25000. Fifty carloads of tile are on site and ten more will be used. Forty men will lay tile, anticipated to drain hundreds of acres previously marshy. Land cost about 150 per acre but fertility and drainage promise huge corn and wheat crops. Memorial services were held across churches with Grand Army of the Republic and Woman's Relief Corps in attendance.
