Urge The Repeal Of Luxury Tax Measure
Telegrams asking Senator Sherman and Congressman King to work for the repeal of the luxury tax were sent by the Chamber of Commerce Thursday. Quincy merchants are behind the Chamber in this move since it is believed many of the taxes are unjust. The luxury tax on clothing above certain values is one that is especially objectionable and clothing merchants are a unit in seeking that this is repealed. Public policy alone, they contend, dictates that as necessary an article as clothing should be duty free.
