Springfield March 8 secretary of state Stevenson's office stayed open till midnight to allow withdrawals from delegate alternate or state committeeman races. Most withdrawals aimed at party harmony. President Wilson and Senator Sherman filed petitions for president and have until March 11 to disavow delegates or alternates pledged to them.
El Paso March 8 Officers of the 13th U S cavalry patrolling the New Mexican border reported tonight that Francisco Villa was at Buques Grandes ranch 15 miles west of Palomas Chihuahua opposite Columbus Mexico Villa with him between 200 and 800 men
An official war office statement confirms a foothold gained by German forces in Corbeaux wood southwest of the Cote de Loie while all other attacks in the Brieghinhead area were repulsed.
