Reports from Washington confirm a clash near Carrizal Mexico between Carranza forces and American troops with few details. In Arizona, one militia battalion and one battalion of the 14th Infantry were dispatched to Nogales on a special train after local citizen appeals. Consul Garcia in Juarez confirms American command involvement with the Tenth Cavalry but provides no figures on forces or casualties.
An unofficial report from Juarez states a clash between American cavalry and Carrancista forces at Carrizal near Villa Ahumada in northern Chihuahua. Forty Americans killed. Springfield Illinois June 22 troops from the Illinois National Guard encamped at Camp Lincoln and Camp Dunne preparing for possible border order.
