A revolt erupts in Kiev with street fighting and exploded artillery stores. Intercepted telegrams claim forty thousand peasants armed and active, with the revolt spreading to Poltava and Chernihiv districts. Kiev is noted as the capital of a Little Russia province with 183,640 inhabitants.
Springfield June 20 federalization and militarization of state and municipal health organizations as a war measure are under consideration by the government. Dr C St Clair Drake of Illinois travels to Washington with a committee to confer with Secretary Baker and Surgeon General Gorgas on details. The move aims to equalize civil health forces to support military needs and safeguard soldiers.
Mrs Lily Busch widow of a St Louis brewer has been released from custody by federal authorities after an examination in Key West officials said they were satisfied with the results and that she would be free to move about. She and her party left for St Louis after questioning concerning any contact with persons in Germany.
Washington June 20. President Wilson fixed July 31 as the registration date under the selective service law for male residents of Hawaii who have reached their majority since July 31, 1917. Hawaiian authorities will designate registration places with hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
London june 20 twenty one German destroyers a large number of submarines and numerous auxiliary craft are penned in the Brugges canal docks as the result of the British naval operations at Zeebrugge the German submarine base on the Belgian coast. Thomas Z MacNamara financial secretary of the admiralty announced in the house of commons that the operations were more successful than first supposed and said the German craft are now the subject of constant bombing.
Washington reports say Turkish troops sacked the American Presbyterian hospital in Tabriz, Persia and attacked the consulate, fueling speculation of a U S declaration of war on the Ottoman Empire. American and British staff reportedly fled. Consul Paddock and colleagues are moving toward Teheran or Hamadan along the caravan route.

The plane nose dived from about 1000 feet after losing control.

Paris dispatch reports that on June 18 French air squadrons brought down or put out of action six German aircraft and set fire to one captive balloon. Bombing missions dropped ten tons of projectiles on railway stations cantonments and bivouacs around Villers Frances and Fismes.
The first escadrille of American aviators trained in Italy left for the Italian front and will fly into action on arrival. Captain Laguardia, a member of Congress, accompanies the unit. The group, described as volunteers, was greeted by Commissioner Chiesa and Assistant Secretary Gallenga. The gesture underscores allied solidarity and American air support for Italy.
AMSTERDAM June 20 The Vienna city council passed a resolution protesting bread ration reductions and renewed its demand for the speediest general peace. The Vienna labor council, after long deliberation, endorsed the same peace objective despite current obstacles.

The Boroevic army group claims fresh advantages while prisoners increase amid stubborn attacks near Oderzo Treviso and the Piave sector. British Italian official bulletin notes heavy fighting on the Piave with little Italian progress. floodwaters wash away bridges and two more machine guns captured.
London June 20 The board of trade commission urges early removal of government control in shipping and shipbuilding after the restriction period. The peace treaty should require surrender of enemy ships and punish crimes at sea, with proceeds from auctions added to the war indemnity. It favors post war limits on German shipbuilding only if all allies including the United States support coercing neutrals.
Pensacola Florida June 20. Navy reserve aviators B E Sylvester and A B Blair were killed when their airplanes collided near the navy air station. Both had recently been sent from the Boston School of Technology to complete their training.
