CHICAGO June 1 United States former governor Charles Van Hughes of New York was nominated for the presidency by the Republican national convention. Charles Warren Fairbanks of Indiana was chosen for second place as vice president. The nominations were unanimous with Roosevelt-backed Lodge receiving only seven votes on the nominating ballot.
