State budget bill totals $28,000,000 for biennial expenses
Springfield Michigan June 7 The omnibus budget bill for the state departments biennium starting July 1 totals 28 million dollars an increase of 10 thousand over the two years ago. The package brings overall appropriations to about 61 million compared with 1917 net appropriations of 30.558 million. Estimated road and waterway bond funded items are not in the 61 million. Proposals include 12 million for schools and 5 million for the state university for two years. Tax levy funds to be raised total NLGOO COG while finance expects about 40 thousand yearly from corporate franchise taxes to fund operations. The 28 million will cover governor and state department maintenance plus 18 million for charitable institutions and 200 thousand for normal schools.
