New Revenue Ruling On Chautauqua Fees Means Large Saving
Washington January 31 A ruling obtained by Congressman King from Attorney General Palmer limits the tax on season chautauqua tickets to 1 cent per 10 cents of the amount paid Thus a season ticket taxed at 20 dollars would be taxed as 2 dollars not 4 under the old rule The change reduces taxes for purchasers and was welcomed by Chautauqua associations in Canton Camp Point Cambridge and Henry Knox Fulton Adams counties The ruling by Internal Revenue Commissioner Daniel C Roper specifies the tax should be 19 percent of the season ticket price not 4 percent as prior Many associations had protested the former method summing up to lower tax on all season admissions The decision affects admissions of all kinds and may influence future tax practices
