In Brownsville Texas an attack near Rio Grande City killed merchant Alexander as a carriage was fired upon by three Mexicans. Simson fled into the bushes. The murderers escaped to Mexico. An inquest concluded Alexander was killed by a Cortinas officer with Depredation Commission present and calls to pursue the attackers.
