Montoya urges action on Interstate 40 stalemate in New Mexico
On November 13 1969 US Senator Joseph Montoya sent a telegram urging officials from Tucumcari San Jon and the Bureau of Public Roads to resolve the long stalled I 40 alignment between Tucumcari and the Texas line. He said bypass routes near San Jon are unacceptable to the village and asked the Federal Highways Administration to hold consultations and review the village and state request to avoid further postponement. Also reported is the receipt from the U S Army of medals posthumously awarded to Ralph Tenoris son of a Santa Rosa News employee who was killed in Vietnam in June.
