Walleye population at Ute Lake rising after stocking since 2009
A New Mexico Game and Fish study finds no permanent damage from an August underwater blast near the Ute Lake intake site. Walleye fingerlings stocked annually since 2009 show rising catches, with 25 to 30 nets used daily and higher haul rates across Conchas and Caballo lakes as eggs are harvested and hatcheries supply fingerlings.
