State representative Anna Crook calls for calm in the Senate District 7 race, urging voters to judge candidates on qualifications and representation rather than outside attacks and misleading mailers. She cautions the partisan fight could threaten the Republican party and stresses focus on local issues and governance.
Mesalands Community College Fine Arts student Jim Curry, 67, designed and cast four bronze field crosses honoring Union County soldiers from World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. The sculpture, two years in the making, was installed at the Union County Memorial in Clayton. Curry, a Vietnam veteran, trained at the Mesalands foundry and collaborated with Union County and Veterans of Foreign Wars. the project drew on local history and museum references.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday June 3 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Tucumcari Convention Center to remember the animals lost in the Tucumcari Animal Hospital fire. Dr Jean P Corey DVM and Tom Anderson with staff are invited to attend a pet memorial. Rev Mark Lake and Rev Amy Pospichal will offer a blessing for the pets.
