Merlinda Merli Sisneros Baca 66 of Tucumcari NM died May 13 2024 in Amarillo TX after an extended illness. She was born July 16 1957 in Tucumcari to Jose G. Baca and Celia Sisneros and graduated Tucumcari High School in 1976. Survived by brothers Albert Vivian Baca Christine Benavidez and brother in law Lorenzo Munguia. special nieces Georgia Gallegos Robert Gonzales Adrian Vargas and many relatives and friends. Graveside services May 28 2024 at 10:00 am Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery. Shafer Mortuary Services of Amarillo handled cremation.

San Jon selects Formative Architecture for new school
San Jon Municipal Schools chose Formative Architecture of Albuquerque to design a new $40 million school after reviewing 11 firms. Sheriff Garcia said an EMT took a handgun from Osteen who then retrieved another. Osteen fired at him and then at Undersheriff Shafer, who tried to wrestle the weapon away. Osteen died at the scene. Garcia and a deputy were wounded but survived. State Police will review the officer involved shooting.
