Logan high school athletes place third overall at the state meet with several finalists in field events and sprints. Team members earned podium finishes as coach-led squads compete across multiple events at the state championships.

Quay County Commissioners approved Larry Wallin as an official representative to monitor construction of the Ute Pipeline and hear residents concerns. Warren Frost said Wallin would contact property owners. the project follows a $160 million federal grant for a 120 mile pipeline serving Clovis Texico Portales Elida and Cannon Air Force Base.
Filmmaker Scott Devitte of Southampton New York proposes remodeling the closed Princess Theatre in Tucumcari as a Telecaster inspired music venue for a key scene in a film about the Fender Telecaster. He envisions a Telecaster shaped stage and has a sizzle reel. He plans talks with the New Mexico Film Commission for incentives.
Tucumcari city commissioners urged boosting salaries in the 2023 budget with priority on infrastructure and equipment. City Manager Mark Martinez noted potential excess funds and urged a competitive wage gap close to neighboring counties, citing 4 to 10 dollars per hour gaps.
In Quay County two GOP candidates vie for sheriff with no Democratic challenger. Undersheriff Dennis Garcia and Tucumcari officer Herman Martinez seek the seat atop a seven-member department ahead of the June 7 primary. Early voting started Tuesday.
