Tucumcari officials approved tearing down half of the Sands-Dorsey building after a morning fire. Fire Chief Mike Cherry calls the cause unknown and suspicious while City Manager Doug Powers notes structural damage and ongoing containment. Crews from Daniel Construction knocked down the west wall as fire crews responded twice on Tuesday.

The state Economic Development Department awarded Tucumcari MainStreet a 157000 capital outlay grant to finish the train depot plaza.
