Tucumcari Commission Tables Two Tax Proposals

Tucumcari city leaders debated two tax ordinances at Thursday meetings. Ordinance 1083 would redirect a capital outlay tax from Ute Lake water to city renovation projects and 1084 would enact a ¼ percent gross receipts tax. The panel tabled both measures to refine wording and consider public vote amid concerns about water reserves and fiscal needs.

Mesalands hosts 12th Mardi Gras Shrimp Boil for scholarships

Mesalands Community College Foundation plans the twelfth Mardi Gras Cajun Shrimp Boil in Tucumcari on March 18 2011 at the Convention Center. The fundraiser starts at 6 30 pm with a social, shrimp dinner, and dancing until 10 pm. Tickets are sold in advance at Bob's Budget Pharmacy and the college. The event has raised over 105900 in scholarships since the program began with last year netting over 16000.
