Quay County Fair Carnival Dates and Open Registration
Sun Valley Rides hosts a carnival at the Quay County Fair from August 15 to 18, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Armbands cost 15 in advance at local outlets including CarQuest and Holiday Tire. Tucumcari Youth Soccer League registration runs through August 15 with forms at Radio Shack and local centers. Sports physicals are at 5 p.m. August 2 at Rattler Gym with Dr. Ross Hastie.

Mesalands Hosts Week Long Summer Adventure Camp
Mesalands Community College hosted a week long Summer Adventure Camp with southwest themed classes for all ages. Campers learned mural painting dino digging computer graphics and video editing with local artist Doug Quarles and educator Donna M. Garcia noting the busy eight to five schedule and the high enthusiasm of youth participants. The event concluded with a mural reveal at the Dinosaur Museum a family barbecue at Conchas Dam and a dorm style final class. Organizers thanks New Mexico Art Space Burns Lumber for supplies and space and invite community input for next year.

City Manager appeals to Tucumcari residents for water cutbacks
City Manager James A. Fleming urged a three day voluntary water cutback to relieve an over taxed system strained by heat wave and two wells out of commission. The message aimed to conserve water while supplies built up. Tone Farmer and Susan Dowds joined the Order of Rainbow for Girls at the Masonic Temple in a Thursday ceremony led by Kirby Faye Crocker. W. H. Bill Scott is establishing a wood molding and mill shop after renting Jim Stull's Smith Street warehouse near the overpass. A going away party honored Mrs Millard Murphey and Mrs W F Ball, with Mrs J H Sharpe and Mrs C S Sartain hosting at the Sharpe home.
