Sandoval arson plea delayed as he seeks attorney review
Tucumcari arson case defendant Robert Sandoval asks to delay the plea after saying he did not understand the agreement. Judge Albert J. Mitchell ordered a new date to allow in person review with attorney Chico Gallegos as co-defendant Dustin Lopez’s status remains unresolved. The case involves fires at the Payless Motor Inn and an abandoned house on Sept. 3, 2014, with Lopez resigning from the Tucumcari Police Department amid related investigations. Dani J. Martinez remains not guilty with no trial date set. All three defendants are free on bond.
