Noel Webb attempted to escape Sunday at Quay County Detention Center by assaulting Officer B J Angel and gaining access to the control room where he assaulted Officer Anthonette Dobbs. Both officers were hospitalized briefly and Webb was restrained and moved to another facility. charges are expected. Webb has been jailed since Nov 7 on a no bond warrant awaiting extradition to California on felony drug charges after a 20 minute Interstate 40 pursuit with Denise Cervantes.
Quay County records show David Urrea charged with felony homicide by vehicle in the death of 25 year old Silvia Chavez Cruz after a single vehicle crash on Five Mile Park Road. Chavez Cruz was found dead at the scene next to a Pontiac car as Urrea admitted being present but not the driver during the investigation. Urrea was treated at Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital for injuries before custody.
At 8:30 a.m. New Mexico State University Ag Science Center hosts an annual agricultural and home economic seminar in Tucumcari with lunch for attendees. A barbecue rib dinner follows at 5:30 p.m. at VFW post 2528.
