Fire in Tucumcari area Spreads Rapidly
Firefighters from Tucumcari Rural 1 Rural 2 Forrest and Logan responded as winds shifted a grass fire from mild to wild. No livestock or structures were harmed. Preliminary cause: a water trailer wheel bearing failure overheated the axle and sparked dry shoulder grass. Extinguishment costs and extra personnel are being calculated.
