Adoptive father seeks adult sentence for double murder suspect
Mike Day, adoptive father of Tony Day, asks Tenth Judicial District Attorney Tim Rose to have Tony Day tried as an adult for killing Sue Day and Sherry Folts on November 14, 2012. The letter argues adult sentencing and a pretrial determination, noting juvenile sentencing could yield six years.

Quay County Seeks Court Win To Preserve Tax for Hospital
Quay County asks a Santa Fe District judge to compel the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department to collect a county tax dedicated to the Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital. County Attorney Warren Frost seeks injunctions ahead of a Dec. 27 hearing. The tax, one eighth of one percent of gross receipts, has been renewed every five years since 1987 after voters approved it in Sept. 17 elections. The state objections center on omitted language aligning the ordinance with the Gross Receipts and Compensating Tax Act. Frost argues the clause omission does not change the tax's intent or election outcome.
