Santa Claus Visits Tucumcari Parade Arts Christmas Spirit
Area groups hosted holiday events over the weekend to boost community cheer. Mesalands Community College hosted 155 parents and children for the annual courtyard lighting and Santa meet and read aloud of The Christmas Story. Santa was portrayed by Oran Watson and reader Kevin Mueller led the tale for the youngsters.

Tucumcari Officials OK Salary Increases and Tax Amendment
Tucumcari city commissioners, after a final public hearing, approved second readings raising pay for the mayor from 4800 to 5800, commissioners from 3600 to 4600, and the municipal judge from 14355 to 15750. They also advanced Ordinance 1130 to allow use of an existing gross receipts tax to fund water rights at Ute Lake and city infrastructure projects with 1.9 million in funds.
