Fire damages three-restaurant chain in Tucumcari
Early Sunday a fire destroyed the Rockin Ys kitchen and damaged the dining area, forcing closure. Owners Yvonne Brazier and Yvette Braziel Peacock plan to run Del's and Kix on 66 with reduced staff while insurer assess the scene and determine if Rockin Ys can be repaired. Fire crews fought the blaze from 1:24 a.m. to 3:50 a.m. on East Route 66.

Winter storm strands travelers as icy roads grip Quay County
Low temperatures and ice from a Thanksgiving weekend storm slowed traffic across Quay County and parts of New Mexico and West Texas. Meteorologists reported up to a quarter inch of ice on highways while NMDOT operated 12 hour shifts to keep routes passable. Only six crashes occurred on I 40 and US 54, with several in parking lots, as crews and responders aided motorists and towed stranded vehicles.

Tucumcari Man Sentenced To Federal Prison Time
Alexander Page of Tucumcari was sentenced to 27 months in prison and three years of supervised release in Albuquerque federal court for a 2013 meth trafficking conviction. Page pleaded guilty July 7, 2015 to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, tied to a 2012 stop near Socorro that yielded about 259 grams in a hidden compartment destined for Clovis.
