Officials break ground on new power station in Tucumcari
More than a dozen residents and city county officials joined Xcel Energy staff Tuesday to break ground on a backup power plant in Tucumcari. The 23 MW turbine from Borger Texas will back up the grid, expand Campbell Street Substation, and be ready by late spring 2013. The project aims to boost local jobs and stabilize power during outages while not firing during short storms.

Health fair to offer medical care for over 100 pets
The 2012 Dog and Cat Health Fair at Tucumcari Convention Center will serve more than 100 animals with free vaccines microchipping and flea tick treatment along with paid spay and neuter slots limited to 105 reservations. Organizer Christina Fleming says funds cover part of the bus costs and local donors have stepped in while core facilities remain closed after a May fire.

Tucumcari Hosts 2012 Dog and Cat Health Fair Details
The City of Tucumcari sponsors a three day Health Fair at the Tucumcari Convention Center rear parking lot from August 9 to 11. Activities run 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with surgery drop offs at 7 a.m. and multiple vet services, vaccines, micro chipping, de-worming, flea and tick prevention, tests, and spay and neuter options. The Santa Fe Humane Society provides daily services 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and a two and a half year old miniature poodle will be spayed and vaccinated for $250. Local resident Monica Schroeder notes rural travel costs.

County Fair Schedule with Exhibits and Shows
