Quay County Fair Opens Amid Adjusted Poultry Show
The Quay County Fair starts 5 p.m. Wednesday with animal shows and events across Thursday to Saturday. Poultry and rabbit shows moved to Aug 1 due to avian flu concerns after outbreaks in Roosevelt County and the Texas Panhandle. A total of 184 poultry and 46 rabbits were entered, numbers higher than last year but below pre pandemic levels. The fair features beef swine sheep goats and dozens of activities including a junior livestock auction and various keepsakes, with no carnival this year due to difficulty securing a vendor.
