Alicia Brown said more than 600 residents attended the Quay County Wellness Fair with 80 exhibitors and 30 free health screenings. Bonnie Smith Osborn, council member, noted volunteers organized setup and the event runs biennially.

The report lists years of potential life lost before age 75 per 100000. Worst counts include Rio Arriba 13982, Curry County 7766, Quay County 12782, Roosevelt County 8921. Best is Los Alamos 2929 with state average 8424.
The data show the percentage of adults with a body mass index of 30 or greater. Worst rates appear in McKinley County at 36 and Curry County at 27, while Roosevelt and Quay Counties show 24 and 27 respectively. Best is Santa Fe County at 14 with a state average of 24.
Unemployment figures show Luna County at 18.7 percent highest, Quay County 21st at 8.7, Roosevelt County 5.9, Los Alamos at 3.7 with the state average 8.4 percent. The data covers civilian non-institutional population over age 16 seeking work.
The report ranks counties on uninsured residents under 65, teen births, and access to healthy foods. Worst uninsured: Catron 32 percent, Curry 23, Quay 25, Roosevelt 28. Best: Los Alamos 5.
