Lions Ladies Night Regional Meeting Aims For December 13

The Regional Lions Club meeting gathers Princeton Trenton Hightstown and Frenchtown for a dinner at Nassau Tavern at 7 pm. An elaborate program features Bishop White Comedy Orchestra, Warry Emmons on banjo, Audrey Winkeman singing, and Helen Taylor leading a dance group. Deputy District Governor Paul Cronce presides. Ralph Kimble hosts. Maurice Chaffey and other officers expected.

Lambert Units Filled Large Waiting List at Lambert Low Cost Housing

The Franklin Terrace houses on Franklin Avenue near Witherspoon Street known as the Lambert Low Cost Housing Project have ten units filled and a large waiting list. Tenants include Harry J. Wright Jr and wife, Edward J. McMahon and wife, Norman R. Fowler and family, John F. Stonaker and family, Richard H. Wood and wife, Joseph F. Hold Meeting to Determine Demand of Leisure Hour Classes

A rally of the Leisure Hour School Program is held at the Junior High School on Nassau Street Thursday at 8 p m. The meeting will gauge attendance for proposed classes and is based on surveys showing strong interest.

Senior Play at Princeton High Set for December Run

The Princeton High School senior class presents Yours Truly Willie by Katherine Wayne on December 8, 9, 10 and 12. The comedy follows the Piefer family with Willie as the central figure, featuring a large cast led by Robert Dooney as Willie and includes radio stars, understudies, accompanists, and a stage crew with Mr Frank Birch as adviser and Ralph Pirone among the organizers.

Princeton High School names 42 basketball candidates

With football season fading, 42 candidates report for Princeton High School varsity basketball under coach Rich ard Borger. Last two seasons yielded state championships but the team must replace three tall graduates Bob MacAvenna Tom Moore and Jack Servis. Veterans Roy Swingler and Johnny Duthie lead as practice begins, with Michael Kline assisting the junior varsity.

No Notice Required For Snow Removal By Public Works Dept

The Borough Public Works Department explains a new ordinance requires no notice to residents for sidewalk cleaning after snow ends. Sidewalks must be cleared within eight hours. if not, the borough will clear them and place a lien on the property. The department notes limited need in the last storm and urges public cooperation for future events.

YMCA Community Basketball League Plans Debut

A meeting at the Y M C A rooms mapped the Community Basketball League to start mid December in the High School gym. Two divisions are planned an A league of expert players and a B league for less skilled players. Teams may apply through the Y M C A next week.

A rehearsal is set for December 12 at First Presbyterian Church. Meanwhile Princeton Borough Board of Education seeks a ten foot sideyard exception from the Zoning Board for the Quarry Street School project due to a 5.8 foot gap, accelerated by a P W A grant and tight deadline. A special Zoning Board session was held on Tuesday at Borough Hall.

Westminster Choir College hosts the Mer cer County YMCA annual convention next Tuesday December 6 at 6 45 p m featuring Russell Durgin of the International Committee as speaker He spent twenty one years as official advisory secretary to the YMCA in Tokyo directing native YMCA workers His talk titled The Two Japans follows a brief business meeting to adopt the county federation budget and reflects on finances and programs from the past year Westminster students will perform vocal selections.

Princeton Delegates Attend New Jersey Older Boys Conference

Twelve Princeton youths join six hundred delegates in Trenton for a conference on Christian Citizenship in a Democracy. Sessions at the State Capitol and model legislature at the Bay Assembly and Bay Senate will review bills from Hi-V groups and perform government functions. Delegates include Fred Silvester Jack Stryker James Knight and Henry Stoll representing Princeton Hi-V and the Methodist Sunday.

Shrine Club Plans Annual Children’s Christmas Party

The Princeton Shrine Club will host its annual Christmas Party for children likely on the Friday before Christmas. A matinee screening of a special film provided by the Arcade will be shown at the Playhouse, with a small candy box for each attendee. Previous events drew up to 1400 children.
